Fonts in GMAO

There are four ways to set up fonts in GMAO:

Default Font

The Default Font Settings come from two places. The color comes from the "Appearance" tab in the Options dialouge:

Empty Background Color is the color that comes up when there is no image loaded. Annotation outline color is the color that the border for the bubbles will be drawn in. Annotation background color is the background color for the bubbles. Annotation text color is the default font text color. Annotation opacity is the default opacity for the bubbles. Be sure that "Draw Annotations" is checked, or nothing will be drawn. "Outline thickness" is the thickness of the bubble outlines, and Gutter is a value that is used to determine when a text line should be considered "empty" or not. (If there Gutter number of pixels on a line between the last bit of text and the bubble outline, GMAO will try to fit more on that line, possibly re-flowing or re-sizing text.)

Font outline options sets the default font outline options. You can have the fonts be outlined in a given color and thickness.

The actual Font information for the Default font is taken from the "Font Options" tab:

Set up the options for the "Default Font" that will be used by selecting "Default Font" from the list on the left, and setting the values on the right.

Character-based fonts

You can also have specific characters have their own font. In the "Font Options" tab, select the character that you would like to have a specific font. Set up the font information for the character as you would like.

Style-based fonts

You can set up styles to quickly add font, color, and font outline information to a bubble. Set up the styles using the "Style Manager" tab in the Options dialouge:

If there are no styles defined, click the "New Style" button, and a new unamed stle will appear. Select the new unamed style, and set the options as you like. Give the style a nice descriptive name. Click "Apply Changes", or just select a different style. "OK" will save the changes you made. "Cancel" will not save any changes that you made. You can remove a style by selecting the style, and clicking the "Delete Style" button.

Once a style is defined, you can apply it to a bubble using the bubble pop-up menu:

Per-bubble font settings
